This fight against the right to use a VPN or to privacy online needs to be fought. It's a shocking how much privacy is eroded in the name of the children. When really it's clearly fighting against dissidence.

I don't think it's either of those. There's definitely criminal activity that's equally abusing the internet anonymity.

Banning VPNs lowers the number of things to look under when ransomware attacks happen, etc.

I'm not challenging whether or not to ban VPN, but the complexity is far over just children or dissidence.

I said in the name of children which is always how it is sold to the public. At the end of the day it is eroding freedom. A VPN ban won't stop people using vpns; it most certainly won't stop those who are trying to hold companies to ransom using them. They won't think twice; "I wish we could hack in and hold Canva to ransom, unfortunately they have banned vpns in my jurisdiction so we won't.".
